Thanks Brian - your explanations are thorough and understandable. I agree with you that tightness is (or can be) a result of weakness.

Yo Brian. Like always, you the man! Thanks again for taking me away from using less body building exercise and implementing more funtional exercises. Spider Training disk one is off the charts, fun, educational and motivated me to study the human body more in detail. Keep the dvds coming.

Hey Brian, great analysis! I know what you mean about athletes needing Hot Yoga, I've been teaching Bikram Yoga and personal fitness training for the last 5 years. I just opened a Hot Yoga/Boot Camp/Personal Training studio in St. Pete Beach, Florida. I have a website but haven't been able to put much time into it lately. I really like what you are doing and was excited to here you talk about Hot Yoga. I hope to join your inner circle soon, I haven't had much time to get on the computer lately! Thanks!

Wow! Thank you Brian for the info. I really found this case study very beneficial. The detail and comprehensiveness you provided on how each area of instability (scapular,Lumbar, pelvic) relates to whole body movement and function really opened my mind to the importance of accurately spotting possible causes of compensation even in such a seasoned athlete like Daniel. The emphasis on the serratus, muscle imbalances at scapula, and limited protraction in relation to lumbar curve to properly engage abdominals was very helpful as well as emphasis on tight TFL. Can’t wait until the next one!!

You would think that as a pitcher he would have greater upper body strength and control. When I first watched the video all I was focusing on was his core, his sagging lower back and the inability to contract the abs to help keep himself up. After watching the spider video I just received it was so much more obvious to me that his problem is in his scapular control as you stated. I never really considered weak scapular control could be associated with core control...thanks for the info!
