Slider Training adds an element of surprise to your Leg Workouts!

Simple single leg training like lunges and squats can take on a whole new look when you introduce a slider to bodyweight resistance.

With an unstable surface during bodyweight training, your boot camper will train primary movers as well as stabilizers simultaneously.

Functional fitness like these techniques will build a solid foundation of lower extremity strength that will allow for advancement to more high level movements.

Using an Unstable surface to help Build a Foundation???

Unexpected perturbation is the most effective means of training the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular system simultaneously thus establishing a solid foundation of functional strength.  By utilizing primal movements, clients of all levels will be able to perform these bodyweight exercises.

In this video:

  • Lower Extremity Forward Reach- functional training of the stable leg with minimal dynamic challenge.  Serves as an excellent primal movement to begin training and monitor your client’s ability to maintain neutral lower extremity alignment
  • Lower Extremity Lateral Reach- with the change of direction and reach outside the center of mass, you will target your client’s hip complex specifically gluteus medius but you must monitor lower extremity alignment to maximize activation.
  • Lower Extremity Posterior-Lateral Reach- this third direction will drive the glute complex over the edge.  Once your clients have mastered this complex movement progress to the lunge progression
  • Lateral Lunge- the primal movement is the same as the lateral reach but the weight transfer is much more dynamic on an unstable surface requiring higher level strength and perfect technique
  • Sliding Lunge- this functional training is the highest level of lower extremity strengthening that will challenge your boot camper to the greatest extent.  Bodyweight training on bilateral sliders is the epitome of functional fitness.

From the stay at home mom to the professional athlete, slider training progression will take your client to the next level of fitness and with no additional expense to you.  For maximal effectiveness and prevention of injury, you must be integrally involved in this type of training.  Once the foundation is set, let your creativity build upon the idea of primal movements and functional fitness.
